As I mentioned in my last post (all those months ago in September) I am now several months in my PhD programme with the University of Hull in Scarborough. My research questions and areas are starting to take a more concrete shape and with this in mind I will be giving my first presentation on the topic at a conference here in Dublin.
I’m very excited to be a part of the first conference of a new group: Virtual Cultural Heritage Ireland. With the Decade of Commemoration there is an increasing interest in maximising the huge wealth of archived material and knowledge associated with the period of 1912-1922. Outside of that though there are many people engaging with digital technologies to generate new and exciting ways to mediate these histories and foster an interactive relationship with the past.
I will be giving a short paper on Friday afternoon on my concept of the citizen curator, the first outing for the term and for me as an early stage researcher.
